Psara, is a small island with rich history, that helped
vary much to the Greek Revolution of 1821 with huge heroism as the third
marine force of Greece at that time. This land was the birth place of
many famous fire-raisers, like Kanaris, Vourekas, Vratsani and others.
The Turks revenged and fully destroyed the island in 1824. Every year
in 22 of June a few hundrends of inhabitants, honoured the anniversary
of holocaust. Psara with Antipsara, are located at the northwestern side
of Chios island. The northern island, at the top of Profitis Ilias is
the monastery of Kimisi Theotokou, with large and very interesting library.
Visit, the church of Agios Nikolaos and Kanari's house. Psara are reknowned
for its lobsters, honey and local cheese.
